Phuong Nguyen (born in 2001) is currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She turned to photography as a form of spiritual therapy after the trauma of her family’s collapse, using it as a medium to convey her inner depths. Through photography, Phuong Nguyen expresses the loneliness, emptiness, and unease within her soul and the surrounding world. She perceives the world as a “fleeting carnival” - radiant, filled with the dazzling light of liveliness and crowds, yet painful and fragile. In this perception, she approaches death as a koan - a profound riddle to contemplate the nature of nothingness and the serene stillness of death. Phuong Nguyen defines her goal as seeking “connection”, the sacred thread that binds all living beings and the diverse, precious aspects of life.
